EdCrunch 2016 is first of all a meeting point.
It is a meeting point for all those who are professionally connected with new education technologies and advanced teaching approaches. It is for those who are ready to experiment, find like-minded people and be inspired by world-class speakers. It is for those who are interested in global education development or simply care about their children’s and grandchildren’s future. EdCrunch creates a unique platform for communication, interaction and experiments. EdCrunch conference is meant to unite experts in education and modern innovations evangelists who believe in new approaches and technologies that can change Russian education. And frankly speaking, the conference is meant to gather these amazing people in one place and spark off a discussion on what the future of education should be like! EdCrunch 2016 features more than a hundred speeches, five program tracks, the best Russian universities and foreign mega speakers, the first prize in innovative teaching – EdCrunch Award, education innovation contest, StartUp Alley of leading education projects, workshops on gamification, education science and technology for those who want to develop professionally, two days rich in unique information and a night in between to discuss anything and everything!
Bullet points:
  • Knowledge
EdCrunch brings together thirty speakers from very different educational institutions and projects from both the public and private sectors. You will receive tons of useful information in five parallel tracks: MOOC-platforms, School Education, Professional Training, Design & Architecture, Experimental Education and many other interesting sections.
  • Ideas
We are the first in Russia to create an education platform designed for collaboration – here you have a chance to find like-minded people, meet prospective partners or present your project to investors, talk to the top world speakers or discuss public reforms with the Ministry of Education representatives.
  • Communication
Our guests are entrepreneurs and businessmen, innovative teachers and leading universities lecturers, representatives of venture funds and corporate universities, public and government officials, educational institutions administrators and directors. It is simply impossible to fail to find an interesting person to talk to among this multitude of bright people!
  • Innovations
In each track we will talk about the future – how will the world change with the developing integration of online and offline education? What is happening in school, university, private projects and what do we have to change today in order to stay up-to-date tomorrow? Why is it so important to make learning interesting and attract students’ attention to the XXI century? We will be looking for the answers to all these questions at EdСrunch 2016.
  • Projects
The conference joins outstanding education and technology startups. You will be able to get acquainted with them at EdCrunch StartUp Alley – an informal exhibition of cutting edge projects. Besides, you will have an opportunity to talk to the projects representatives and find the solutions and ideas you need.
HIGHER EDUCATION

Despite indisputable influence of massive open online courses (MOOC) on all the levels of education – university, school and cooperative – the future of MOOC is still a matter of debates among professionals.

In the "Universities/MOOCs" section, we will discuss goals and objectives of MOOC and try to answer the following questions: Can MOOC be helpful for everyone: students, pupils, seniors? Is it possible to decrease the cost of Higher Education through MOOC? Is this old or new pedagogy? Is MOOC a field for innovations or a transformation of known online remote learning techniques? Who will become the leading MOOC provider: universities or corporations? How do we define quality MOOC? Can analytics significantly increase the quality of MOOC? Russian online education and MOOCs: development pathways.

SCHOOL

Have teachers stopped understanding their pupils, and have pupils stopped understanding what teachers are explaining to them? The world has changed! The first smartphone was released 10 years ago, the first tablet computer – about 5 years ago. Technologies have changed our lives forever. The educational system cannot keep ignoring this fundamental shift. In the school education section we will be discussing the place of IT technologies in schools, questions related to inclusive education, and modern methods that speed up the process of children's adaptation and integration into society.

Will distance education abolish the class and lesson system or propel school lessons to a whole new level? Should we continue fighting the use of cell phones in class or try to turn them into our assistants according to the BYOD concept? Will digital educational resources and electronic textbooks manage to increase pupils' motivation?

PROFESSIONAL TRAINING AND ADDITIONAL EDUCATION

As opposed to school and university education, professional training is poorly regulated by legislation. At the EdCrunch conference we will learn about successful cases of using new educational technologies and approaches both from independent providers and corporate universities. Are corporate universities the employer's "last hope"? Will corporate universities manage to become the leading driving force for training complex professional skills? Will new educational technologies find their place in corporate universities?

We will also discuss the makering development as a new approach to professional education: makering culture, that more often occurs in technology enthusiasts communities, presents a perfect alternative to niche specialization in an environment of constantly accelerating upgrade of technologies and business management tools.

EXPERIMENTAL METHODOLOGIES

How can we make educational process exciting and effective? We are going to try and find an answer to this question in the experimental methodology section. This is an overview of the best international and Russian teaching practices when teachers are not afraid of experimenting and testing new approaches. Discussion participants will touch upon the topics of inductive learning, mixed teaching of different age groups, interactive tools for student involvement, new education approaches for training teachers and many others. What really works? Is it worth modernizing the whole educational process?

DESIGN & ARCHITECTURE

Traditional school buildings cannot contain new educational technologies anymore. It is high time to reconsider design and architecture of educational spaces, as today we are learning everywhere: in a library, in a museum, in a park. What an optimal space for acquiring new knowledge and skills should look like? Is there a connection between learning space and students' educational progress? Who will become the driving force for new design and architecture?

At the EdCrunch conference we will try and discuss these issues and consider the most effective cases both from international and Russian experience.
